Find out how The Bike Inn supports and develops its graduates with unique oppotunities:
ELCAS APPROVED TRAINING PROVIDER
The Bike Inn is proud to be an approved ELCAS learning provider, offering a Level 3 qualification in Bicycle Mechanics, accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
We understand that leaving the forces and transiting into "Civy Street" can be a daunting prospect. You may need to find employment, but you face difficulties translating your accumulated skills and experience into the requirements of a more regular job. Our training and the related qualification, not only arms you with the necessary technical knowledge and skills to secure a job as a bicycle mechanic in an established workshop, but we also offer advice and practical tips if you want to set up your own cycle related business.
The Bike Inn has been training respected bike mechanic professionals for over 30 years, with many former graduates going on to pursue successful careers within the industry or run their own lucrative cycle business. In our time we have helped many hundreds of service personnel, of all ages and ranks, prepare for the next chapter of their life. We choose to offer the IMI qualification because it has, what we deem to be, the best and most relevant modular course structure. As well as being internationally recognised, the qualification also provides the credentials required for professional insurance purposes.
Our course structure includes two months of Tutor led, virtual learning and 14 days onsite at our well-equipped training workshop in Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria. The achievement of the qualification requires written essays and evidence of practical work gathered during both the virtual and on-site phases of the course.
We specialise in providing post course technical and business support and advice to our Alumni
The Level 3 course comprises the following subject areas:
• Tool selection depending on working environment
• Preparing frame elements for assembly
